A Gunks crew of 8 made the nearly snowless hike up and around Kaaterskill High Peak today. The ride up took us past Moore's Bridge which looked very thin, dripping etc. On the drive out it appeared that Moore's picked up more ice through the day. The water flow exiting from Kaaterskill Falls is massive, and the view up into Buttermilk Falls revealed some ice, but also enough water flow to be visible from Rt. 23A. From near the summit of Kaaterskill High we caught a view across the valley and into Kaaterskill Falls' amphitheater. Ice is forming on the visible left side, but hard to tell just how much. IMO, the entire region is sketchy at best. The coming rains and the next warm cycle certainly won't help the Catskills.
