Historically, how early does Pinnacle come in? Is it always climbed first?

its tough to say b/c there is no consistency to the madness of why and how ice forms.

Most years its stuff on Mt. Washington that comes in 1st, sometimes its Cannon Mt, sometimes others. I guess that's why I like ice so much, its like rock climbing with the added element of 'Hunting' and good dose of suffering.

btw, from the looks of the photo you have to put a pick to my head to call that 'in'

You are all sick. Serioulsy freakin sick! The worst part is that whatever you have is extremely contagious. I just hope to god I can prolong onset as long as possible. (Perhaps until I reach the age of reason... Which is... What? 65?)

BRrrrr! It was 35 today when I woke up.

So what is a good tick list - starting with the Catskills and working your way up?

My dream climb would be Kaaterskill Falls, although its probably over my head (no pun intended). I also just got some good beta on some falls in the vicinity. Next would be Mt. Washington in full conditions. Any other ideas for ice climbing in the neighborhood?

Here's an Adirondack sampler of moderate ice......

Choinard's Gulley in Chapel Pond. Climb this one first. Two pitches.

Roaring Brook Falls just down the road from Chapel pond. Three pitches. Climb this one second.
