Tomorrow's storm looks good! Hopefully I will be out at Minnewaska skiing on Sunday... keeping fingers and toes crossed! If all goes well look for a condition report by Sunday night. Psyched!

Also this weekend is a full moon... I am hoping to get out for some twlight cross country skiing Sunday night too , should be a fun time.

How much snow did the Gunks get? I was in Pinkham Notch all weekend taking avy I. We only got 3 inches! But it was enough to put a nice new surface on the Sherburne.

YES!!!! lots of great powder to be had!!!!

It was 4 below zero on Saturday and Sunday am in Highland area - and the skiing was great on Sunday!!
Minne had only rolled for Sunday - very few folks out in the am but by 2pm lots of people out and enjoying the sun and snow.

This Monday am 12 below zero - snowshoeing by moonlight tonight for me!

oh lordy i am in heaven!!!

prospect park had this beautiful cold, cold powder that glides like nothing i've ever been on inside new york city limits. it is superbly fast snow. i skied for four hours in the park on saturday night; it was pure bliss!!!!

i'm heading back out again tuesday after work (for any who might be interested). and thinking about doing a combo x-c ski and ice weekend upcoming!!!

anyone care to report on conditions in minnewaska or the preserve?

winter has finally arrived!!!

Conditions were good - Minne had rolled - not tracked - but the powder was great - a little slow due to the fluffy nature of the snow - rumor has it Minne will track sometime on Wednesday

ok, here's the trip report! we were out ski patrolling yesterday. minnewaska also has a new ski patroller!

the park got walloped by some very fine snow. so fine and drifting, in fact, that they decided to wait until wednesday to finish the work. it seems OK for skating, but not so great for classical unless you don't mind semi-backcountry conditions. (it was a perfect blue wax day, though!) we ski'd out to Awosting and back (we were tired from shoveling out one house and looking forward to shoveling out my house after skiing...) so we didn't do the complete Castle Point loop, although we heard that the track vehicle was stuck somewhere on the other side of C.P. due to breakdown. So mind the equipment if you're coming down the other side!

when they finish tracking, conditions should be fantastic for the next weekend.
