Well I just got rid of my training heels a few days ago and tried going tele. I loved it and caught on real fast. I now want to switch over to tele (from alpine), and have a few questions...

1. I just got some alpine skis- is it possible / practical to mount tele bindings on these skiis (just to start off) or am i better off going all-out and buying tele skiis?

2. In the mean time... does anyone know if there are any local rental shops that rent tele setups?

3. And finally...does anybody have any old equipment they want to sell me (cheap!)?

I've tele'ed for 4-5 years now, all of it on alpine skis. Just pick a soft "all mountain" ski. Avoid the stiff racing type boards.

Also, as an old fart, I still use conventional sidecut skis. I have no idea what it would be like to tele on super-sidecut (parabolic, or whatever the marketers call them these days) skis.

For a good laugh, you can read through all of the threads where accidents are "analyzed." The self-righteousness is nauseating.... although, a few good "foils" have recently appeared.
