Well I just got rid of my training heels a few days ago and tried going tele. I loved it and caught on real fast. I now want to switch over to tele (from alpine), and have a few questions...

1. I just got some alpine skis- is it possible / practical to mount tele bindings on these skiis (just to start off) or am i better off going all-out and buying tele skiis?

2. In the mean time... does anyone know if there are any local rental shops that rent tele setups?

3. And finally...does anybody have any old equipment they want to sell me (cheap!)?

Thanks! Any other sort of usefull info is appreciated.

It's possible. Some experts prefer it. You might not learn as fast though, they could be too stiff for you.

Mountain Travelers near Killington, Mad River Glen ski shop, definitely the EMS in North Conway, possibly the IME in North Conway, possibly The Mountaineer or High Peaks Cyclery?

I've tele'ed for 4-5 years now, all of it on alpine skis. Just pick a soft "all mountain" ski. Avoid the stiff racing type boards.

Also, as an old fart, I still use conventional sidecut skis. I have no idea what it would be like to tele on super-sidecut (parabolic, or whatever the marketers call them these days) skis.

Ooh really? I haven't had the pleasure of making their acquaintance yet. Sounds like some trolling is in order.

ohhhhhh....gggaaaawwwddd....

please don't.

For a good laugh, you can read through all of the threads where accidents are "analyzed." The self-righteousness is nauseating.... although, a few good "foils" have recently appeared.

Hell no....

I've learned the value of keeping my mouth shut, especially when people are paying attention. On occassion, I like to argue with Lou, because we're good friends, and we get a chuckle out of watching the inevitable: "You DARE argue with THE Lou Dawson?" posts...

Over here. noone gives a shit what I say, anyway....
