Anyone been on the Black Dike recently. I'll be up there to try it in two weeks and am wondering what the conditions are. I'm sure it must be hacked at least a little.

A good place to check on current ice conditions in that area is chauvinguides.com. At the moment it says that Black Dike is "a bit beat up". They update the conditions page daily.

Climbers do it with good protection

Yeah I've been to that site. Just wanted to hear firsthand info from someone who has been up it recently.

I haven't been on the Dike recently, but here is a link to a pretty good picture taken on 2/8.

It is a real nice route.

If you are up north you should also check out Lake Willoughby in Vermont if you have the chance. The amount of ice there is amazing. It would only be a 1.5-2 hours from Franconia Notch.

Would love to hit Lake Willoughby on this trip, but we already have plans for the Dike, then Huntington. We are going to try doing Odell's, Pinnacle, and Central in one day.
