I noticed this sleepy old thread, and figgered I'd let all the peeps know that the SECOND ANNUAL version of this is taking place again in and aroung Gunklandia this October 15th.

I will once again be partaking in the silliness (unless I happen to qualify for a certain race the following weekend, but that's highly unlikely), so hope to see you there!

No short course this year ? I would be up for that but training for the whole enchilada would seriously put a crimp in my climbing.

The American Zofingen Short Course option has JUST opened for registration as of 9/15/06.

There are only 200 total slots available for LC + SC, so if you want to do either variety, it'd probably be a good idea to register sooner rather than later.

I cannot recommend this event strongly enough.
Whether you go short or long, it is a fun, challenging adventure in a beautiful setting (the GUNKS!!!!)
(Were I not going be otherwise occupied at that time, I'd be doing this again, in a heartbeat.)

PS - as of now, there's a bridge out along the back part of the bike loop. The RD has been promised that it will be fixed in time for the race, but if not, the current detour adds ~1m in riding distance to each bike loop.
No biggie, but something to be aware of.

Here's my excuse list:
1) I just got my first road bike in 19 years.
2) The "gym" I belonged to this summer only allowed one hour of training a night, not good for endurance training.
3) I have to have permission to leave the county.
