Many you have seen information, somewhat prematurely released, about a possible campground on a 45 acre parcel below the intersection of routes 299 and 55. I am happy to announce that the Mohonk Preserve, the American Alpine Club and others are working to make this a reality. We have only recently started this work so any details are subject to a great deal of change. I am hopeful, however, that we can create a campground that we all can be proud of by sometime in 2008. What type of campground are we talking about? Tents only? RV-friendly? Showers, electrical hookup, permanent toilets?

If all of the above, then I'm not at all psyched about it. I'm guessing it'll be filled with leaf-peeping type tourists.
