LEARN ABOUT YOUR FELLOW ACROBATS IN THE GUNKS

Saturday, March 25th, 7-8:30 p.m - Peregrines in the Shawangunks - Presentation at the Mohonk Preserve

All ages. Sign up begins 3/12. John Thompson, Mohonk Preserve Natural Resources Specialist. In 1955, Daniel Smiley and Dr. Heinz Meng banded the last two peregrine falcon chicks nesting at the Trapps. During the next 50 years, that useful scientific practice could not to be repeated. Why not? Finally, on June 10, 2005, a foggy misty morning, Mohonk Preserve staff and volunteers helped Chris Nadareski, Research Scientist, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, once again successfully band a male peregrine. Join John as he fills in the peregrine’s story using the historical notes of Dan Smiley and photos from then and now. Indoor program. To reserve a spot, call the Preserve at (845) 255-0919.
