Anyone have any beta to the slide climbs on Gothics? Any other Adirondack suggestions are always appreciated as well. Thanks.

I'm curious if you are talking about Gothics as a summer or winter climb. The north face is a very popular winter climb, but I heard that it never came in this year. I'm not familiar with any rock climbing on that slide. If it's been done before it will be in the guide book. Big slide mt. and the trap dyke are popular back country slides. I don't really have any beta, because I don't like that type of climbing. If you want info on the established crags, I can help there, because I know most quite well.

There is a whole section of Mellor's climbing guide devoted to slide clims.
Well worth the investment for the book and the climbs.
Enjoy,
Christian :?)

Headed up this summer as soon as I get back from the Alps to scope it all out. I've heard that there are a lot of long runouts and little pro. Great exposure to go along with the 7 or so (i think) pitches. Long hike in and up and it would be a lot more fun if made a two-day outing. The last I read/heard, the Rainbow Slide has never been climbed. That is just a rumor however so don't take it for fact! Let us all know if you do any routes out there. As mentioned in a previous post, Mellor's book is fantastic. A real bible for Adirondack climbing and nice to flip through in the campsite.
