Sorry to beat a dead horse but I cannot find cell threads through the search page so I will ask here for advice.

I have just moved to the area and am finding the Verizon wireless sucks the large member. What cell service works the best for you here in the New Paltz/Gardiner area.

the minnewaska rangers are fans of cellular one. They can get reception while I am twiddling my fingers with t-mobile which just doesn't work on the other side of the ridge.

Cingular seems to work the best, I get reception at my house when most others do not. The only dead spot is the middle section of the ridge, and anywhere within 100' of Ranger Rob's house.

Ya, another vote for Cingular. I got a cheapo pre-paid Motorola Cingular phone that works great all over the Gunks...

Verizon service is spotty on the west side of the ridge at best.

My Sprint service is spotty on the east and negligible on the west side of the ridge.

I have Verizon now but I just moved here and I can be out on my property and have three bars and suddenly I lose the call and have 0 bars and then shazzaam I have bars again. Sounds like the big V may not have enough rights to the area.

Anyone got a treo or other smart phone? How 'bout the good, the bad, or the ugly on them.

I have Cingular and a cheap pay as you go phone - no connectivity problems yet in New Paltz area.
