the gunks locals are in the process of forming a rescue team. if anyone is interested contact us or Marty Molitoris.

CMC is who we bought the titanium litter a couple years ago for the Preserve. it has stood up to service well.

the new catalog is awesome, there is lots of really cool new and improved gear like the SOG SEAL knife for example. I highly recommend checking it out. my friend Kevin did the photos of Mt. Rushmore. enjoy.

Marty Molitoris, of guide service Alpine Endeavors, has started to organize a local search and rescue team along with other local climbers. The name of the group is Hudson Valley Mountain Rescue. In the next month Marty will be working on the new website and applying for not-for-profit status.

The GCC remains in discussion with Minnewaska State Park officials to expand climbing opportunities in the Park. Any expansion will require establishing a backcountry Search & Rescue team. This will be its own stand alone organization.

If anyone is interested in volunteering, please contact Marty Molitoris at info@hvmr.org, and check out their website, http://www.hvmr.org

I tried volunteering, I think it is now months ago. Never got a response. Maybe I'm too damn old for a rescue squad. Still, the courtesy of a polite rejection doesn't seem like too much to expect.

I also offered my mapping skills to hvmr, but no response either.

Marty just learned a bunch of emails were never forwarded from his server. Folks should be hearing from him.

And thank you for volunteering.

Update on local search training, Marty has responded to those that pm'd him and has set up an 8 hour course Jan. 18th and 20th, with Rob Mecus (Ranger Rob here) so if anyone else local is still interested please add your name to the list with Marty, see his Alpine Endeavors website for all his contact info.
