Greetings, fellow users. I'm heading to Budapest in June and looking for some good climbing in the nearby mountains. I understand Slovenia has some big mountains around the Julian Alps, but information on technical routes seems to be hard to find. Anybody know anything about this area, the availabity of guides for hire or guidebooks, the chance of meeting other climbers in the Bohinj area or any other info? And how about Slovakia? Thanks.

(To avoid confusion, Slovenia is southwest of Hungary, south of Austrian and north of Croatia, while Slovakia is north of Hungary, adjacent to Poland)

Try to get a hold of a climber from the New Jersey Rock Gym named Khadzi; he is from that area and knows it well (he used to work professional mountain rescue there and is an awesome climber as well as a really nice guy).
