Why would people neglect the crux pitch of a climb? Not doing the last pitch of Maria means you really didn't do Maria at all.
It's not on purpose. I know at least two people who couldn't figure out where it was. Plus, it's an easy place to bail from.
Similar, I suppose, to the folks who bail from the crux pitch on Moonlight, after not being able to figure out where it goes (known at least two folks who've done this too).
But enough of this chit-chat, back to business.
Here's one with a little added bonus to it:
I do not actually remember the climb we were on at the time!!! So if I get a definitive answer, confirmed by a second person, I'll buy you both a beer! I know for sure this was in the Trapps. I kind of remember being, oh, halfway down, that day. But then again, it does kind of look like the end of Horseman
, doesn't it? I don't think it is, though. Actually, I have my theories, but I'll keep them to myself for now.
Your help is appreciated!
