The bigger worry IMO is that with the drought, the water table will be so low that there won't be enough seepage to produce a lot of phat ice this winter.

I was in the Adirondacks from 9/14-9/23. One of the days had squalls resulting in less than half an inch of rain; the rest of the time the days were sunny. I hiked 12 mountains and did not once have to step in or around mud. Trails on south-facing slopes were actually dusty-- it was hard to believe I was in the Adirondacks.

I am also concerned about the water tables... But I didn't want to start a panic

Yeah. You should have seen how low the water was up at Avalanche lake. Made getting around really easy, though.

Funny, how many find statistical deviations from mean weather conditions so remarkable.

So calculate the probability of today being even warmer than Saturday. It's 87 right now and could go higher.

And anyway, what's statistics got to do with the delay of ice season??

Not so much "remarkable" as just F-ing annoying... I am not a hot weather person...

Give me 60's, no humidity and sunny... Or 20's and sunny...
