I was in Vermont over the weekend (Family Weekend at Middlebury College; dads go and take their daughters on shopping sprees for the winter clothes they suddenly realize they are going to need) (crap, Williams won the football game).
On Saturday night it snowed down to ~2,600'; it had likewise done so across Lake Champlain in the Adirondacks, as well. Winter is on its way, Brendan.
According to a local forester I chatted with, Vermont has not had the drought the Adks have had, and the water table is "normal."
So this winter instead of all of us being crowded into Chapel Pond Canyon, perhaps we'll be trudging up the long approach to Smugglers Notch and getting shredded by arctic winds at Lake Willoughby.
