Received this interesting email this morning:
Dear those at the Gunks,
The Harvard Mountaineering Club is looking for a caretaker for this winter season on Mt. Washington. The cabin is located at the base of Huntington Ravine, which is home to some of the best ice climbing in New England. Time is rapidly approaching and we still have had zero applicants. If you could please pass the following information onto your contacts in the guiding community we would be very appreciative. Thank you very much.
Harvard Mountaineering Club
The Harvard Mountaineering Club is looking for a caretaker for this winter season (Dec. 1 to April 1). The cabin is located just below Huntington ravine on Mt. Washington. Pay is $45/day. The job includes:
* Collecting User Fees
* Managing the Cabin
* Posting Daily Avalanche and Weather Data provided by the USFS and AMC
* Carrying a radio at all times so that you can assist USFS
* Maintaining communication with the Harvard Mountaineering Club
* Must be able to work independently but also collaborate with the AMC and USFS
Currently we are looking for a full-time caretaker who is able to commit to the whole season. However in the past we have been able to break the season up into months in the case that one caretaker is not available for the whole winter season. We are also looking for people who are interested in doing fill-in caretaker work, so that the full-time caretaker can take some time off during the season.
To apply for the 2007-2008 season please send a brief letter or email describing related outdoor experience, first aid training, any chain saw experience and climbing experience to HMC Cabin Liaison Leah Boch at email@example.com. Please include your contact information (phone, email, permanent address) and dates available for the position.
Good luck to any of you who can take advantage of this.
