Steve feels like his transition times were too long the last time he ran VT100 so there won't be any pampering. My task is to keep it snappy and no sympathy or worrying.

So anyone else going to be at Pineland? I see that the 50M starts 2 hours before the 50K, so looks like Steve and I will have a race to the finish line.

Well, I think anyone who enters a 100-mile race is intentionally bringing pain and suffering on themselves so should not expect sympathy.
However, they do expect treatment of blisters and changing of socks. \:\/

I'm finding training for a 50K is already killing my climbing. I'm a climber who runs. I'm looking forward to the race but I'm also looking forward to being done with it.

Dawn,

Wait until you run the 50k. You may become a runner who climbs!

I love climbing. That said, when I think about interacting with an environment -- be it the Gunks, Zion, J Tree -- I'm just as likely to day dream about all day runs and then climbing.

Speaking of day dreaming -- I'm pacing about 50 miles, the dusk to dawn... to early afternoon leg of the Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 next weekend. The official start of the VT 100 training.

Eric

That's what Steve says, that I'll get hooked. I did my longest training run yesterday and survived it. All systems are go for Pineland.

Pinelands looks so good, I wish I was going too! However I am travelling to enough races as it is this year. Have a great time. I met the race director at Bull Run Run in VA last month - pretty young to be a RD. He says it is getting more and more popular every year.

Have a good race, Eric. But if you're going to pace 50 miles you might as well enter it!

Hi Dawn, I am heading to Pinelands after all! Have to be in ME anyway so this will make for a nice training run. I will likely do the 50K so as not to abandon my sweetie (Pedestrian) for the entire day, just half of it.
Hope to bump into you and Steve there.
Lisa

That would be cool. Will you know me if you see me?

Tell you what: if my gunks.com t-shirt is clean I'll wear it for the barbecue (although you may be in and out of there before I hit the finish line).
