Yayoi had a much better idea of when Lisa would show up than Lisa did...

Lisa, I'll definitely have someone with me the next go around. I also will do research into the physiology of these events and how to avoid sudden bonks post exercise. As much as I don't relish the idea of further movement after 100 miles, I wonder if a 20-30 minute warm down, while downing fluids and cals, might be the answer.

Dawn, I imagine I was well behind Steve by the first aid station. I'm usually mid pack for the first half of ultras and slowly inch forward in the second half.

VT 100 updated the finishers and separated out the 100ks. Congrats to all -- a strong showing (top 15%)! Steve gets the yellow jersey, Lisa gets the polka dots, and Nate, Dawn and Lisa's pacer (name?) get free beers for the next month.

Glucose drip might be the ticket ;\)

Free beer sounds better than a glucose drip.

Top 15% is excellent, Eric. Anything under 24 hours is impressive. I'm so glad they fixed the results so we can make sense of them.

Lisa, was this really your first 100? Somehow I had the idea you were really experienced. Now I'm doubly impressed.

Great report, Dawn! You certainly had fun the day your CREWED.
I have run lots of trail races from marathon to 70-mile distance but Vermont is my first 100.
Hope Steve is feeling good. The soreness is gradually leaving my legs.

I enjoyed your report, Dawn, and Steve's as well. Inspiring -- makes me really want to train for one of these 100s rather than haphazardly stringing runs together in advance of the 100.

Anyone in for MMT next year?

MMT is very tempting - I love hilly rocky tough courses (automatic justification for my slow time )
However the Leadville 100 has caught my interest too. I have only raced on the East coast and in Wisconsin so would love to head further west and try some higher elevation runs.
Hmmm, time to start planning next year's races.....

So who's doing what next? We need something to look forward to. Steve was toying with the idea of doing a 100 in Wyoming next month but he hasn't even run since the race so I don't see it happening. I had plans to climb a lot but it's another rainy Sunday and I'm sitting at home. Anyone got a definite goal?

I am sticking to 100K's and 50-milers for now, no more 100 milers until next year. Next up for me is the GEER 100K in Charlottesville VA on September 27th. I ran it last year and it is a very hilly course.
I have yet to resume running after VT100 but the legs should be ready to run in a few more days. I certainly WANT to be out running.
Good for Steve to be considering another 100 so soon.
