No ropes were cut, as far as I know . Anyone have any details on what happened on Friday?

My partner and I did High-E Friday morning. Another group (two from Quakertown, PA) were racking up as we packed up. We did some more climbing in the area, eventually bailing from Moonlight when the rain got heavy. They were still on the climb, I'd heard the second yelling about not being able to do the move and asking for slack. We hung around under a boulder near CCK, figuring we'd wait to see if they were OK. They eventually yelled for help, and we went over to try and get an idea of the situation.

It was hard to yell to each other, but it sounded like the second was on the GT ledge, and the leader had gotten stuck on rappel. At first I thought it was just a stuck rope, but it eventually sounded like he was mid-rappel. I was going to hike around to rappel down, but there was a ranger parked under the Andrew boulder and I gladly let them take over. I'm still curious though, what was the situation? I'm sure it was freezing up there in a t-shirt in the wind and rain, so I hope everything worked out well-enough...

We were eating dinner in the parking lot when they walked out. Talked to them a little bit, but didn't get much more than what you already heard. Second couldn't pull the move, leader tried to rappel down, rope got stuck somehow, they waited for a rescue.

In any event, they made it to the parking lot in good health and with smiling faces.

That's good to hear. They'd mentioned they were just up for the day and I'm sure that wasn't what they'd hoped to get out of it.

Thankfully just another good After Climb While Drinking Beer story. Sounds like they might have some incentive to learn how to prussik now.

And rappel and climb. I'm sure they were happy to be home drinking a beer that night.

The rope got stuck? While rapping down it? I'm not getting it.

But I do understand beeer. Yuengling is a favorite.

At first I thought they were yelling about stuck ropes. Then it sounded like the lead was stuck on rappel. Two different possibilities - I was trying to get an idea of what happened. I was wondering if it was a shirt sucked into the rappel device, or some other issue.

I was also guessing that knowing how to prussic would have been a big help to the lead...

Ok that sounds more like it. I guess there really are so many things that can go wrong .
