I gave Dennis a ride to DC back around 1968. I had had my first real job for a few months so it was a little disconcerting to listen to Dennis describing his plans. He said he was going to the tetons for the fall then the Valley while on the way to south America. Going to catch the Alps on his way back to the Gunks. Then to Mexico while on the way to So Cal and the Valley. But as soon as it got hot he was headed to Alaska and after that the Himals. After 15.5 miles I interrupted with a question. Do you plan to get a job when your trip is done?"
He gave me only a blank look.
If you go look in all of those places i suspect you will find Dennis - somewhere.
For my own part I gave up working after 40 years. Dennis may have been right.
