Who maintains the bolts at Peterskill? A friend of mine was climbing there last weekend and found one quite loose. He tightened it the best he could with his bare hands. He reported it to the ranger, but they said they do not maintain the bolts. It is the Gunks Climbers' Coalition? He said the bolt was on Yellow Wallpaper.

yeah, the guy that does that is one of the GCC group. he checks the forum regularly; I will remind him next time I talk to him. Thanks for the warning.

Thanks Phlan! I figured someone here would know how to get it fixed.

Just want to point out that the replacement of the bolts is not the GCC's responsibility. Just that the guy who does it (and works for Minnewaska) happens to be a GCC board member.

If the person responsible for maintaining the bolts works for Minnewaska SP, I wonder why the ranger didn't tell my friend that? I would think there should be a known way of documenting problems before an accident happens.

Phlan can confirm this for me, but I think it's because he's a climber who has taken on that responsibility, not because he's an employee.

Actually Jannette, I usually tighten them, not Bob.

Thanks for clarifying, I didn't know. I just knew it wasn't officially the GCC.
