Could you post a snapshot of the damage? Then I'd be happy to opine on my prognostication on the best solution next time I'm procrastinating.

There would indeed be a huge market if it were effective against larger rodents, such as marmot and porcupine. Maybe that's why everyone keeps tying up a dog near the gear at the base of each climb? Talk about rodent repellent!
