How long will this business last in today's economic climate?

Peter, congratulations on your new business. I've read about Crossfit before and it looks intense and fun. Considering the fitness fanatic culture of the area, you will likely do well here.

Best of luck and welcome to town.

K

Edited to add.....it looks like there is a typo on the schedule up on your website. It says Monday, Tuesday, and Friday when logically it looks like it should say Wednesday instead of Tuesday.

For those who haven't heard of, nor tried Crossfit...it is one of the most intense workouts you can imagine. I've been doing it (more or less) for the past few years and have seen incredible leaps in my strength and overall fitness.
Go to www.crossfit.com and check out the various workout routines. The "Workout of the Day" (WOD) usually takes only 20 minutes to complete, but will totally wipe you out.

Best of luck, Peter...

I have read a lot about what great results can be achieved with Crossfit (note 'read' - have not actually tried it yet )
I hope your business does really well.

I've also been doing crossfit for the past 2-3 years and love the workouts. It's a much more full body workout then anything I've done in the past and for me is the best of both worlds in that it works on endurance as well as strength. And that is real world strength which I think makes a big difference as compared to muscle specific strength such as being able to benchpress xxx pounds. For this reason i've found that these workouts have made me a better athlete overall in that they aren't mucle or sport specific. The workouts can be grueling though and involve hard work and are not the kind of thing someone can do half a$$ed and expect results from. I've turned my spare bedroom into my own personal crossfit gym and will be moving everything into my garage this spring. The most amazing part about this workout program is that it doesn't involve fancy machines and such. It's amazing how the typical commercial gyms have brainwashed everyone into thinking they need to workout on increasingly complex machines and that they need to do all these isolated exercises rather then the tried and true ones (dips, pull-ups, pushups, etc). Just my own opinion though...

Outdoor athletes who are interested in Crossfit-type workouts ought to have a look at http://www.mtnathlete.com/ where the some of the Crossfit concepts are adapted to mountain sports.

Given the nature of the local scene, it would make a lot of sense for the new gym to trend in this direction too.
