Hey, I am going to be running the rapids on the Penobscot River in Maine on Monday. Baxter State Park is nearby - Does anyone know if there is there any climbing there or elsewhere nearby? Unfortunately Acadia is going to be too far of a ride.

Baxter has the best alpine climbing in the east on Mt. Katahdin. 7 pitch routes Teton like granite. Its great. You have to be at the gate by sunrise or you wont get a spot in the lot to access chimmney pond. Also the rangers are completely worthless and will give you a very hard time reguardless of your climbing resume.

What does that mean? Are you a professional climber? Is this the same Rob who caused alot of problems on this site a few months ago? What routes did you do in the Tetons?

Sometimes when you climb areas involving time comittment they ask for a climbing resume. This means they want to know what equiv. climbs you have done so they can justify you are competent enough to climb there.
