cfrac enthusiast Registered: 04/26/08 Posts: 365	Went up to the Chic Chocs from April 11-17th expecting to find corn and got two feet of powder! When we got back to the Gunks this past weekend it felt so hot in comparison. The video from the trip is here: Chic Chocs Video on Vimeo Anyway, here are a few shots from the video... cfrac enthusiast Registered: 04/26/08 Posts: 365	Yes, it's on the Gaspe Peninsula, You drive to Montreal, turn East and keep driving. It took us about 13 hours from the Gunks to get there. Really cool place with great skiing and ice climbing, there are caribou and moose too! Here are a few more pictures...

Besides the bowl skiing around Jacques Cartier Peak, there's a back country hut-to-hut tour that takes anywhere from four days to a week to circumnavigate. Ability to speak French strongly recommended. That's still not Quebecois, but it's a lot closer than English, which some locals can't speak and others, on principle, won't. Nice photos, cfrac. You lucked into some great conditions. Sure looks like it made the drive worthwhile!

You make a good point Jon, but I spent Christmas in Utah so it was a nice change, I think I'll be going somewhere West next Spring Break though. 13 hours sounds ridiculous but that's from door to trailhead and the whole trip cost under $400. The trip to SLC: 2 hours to Newark arrive 1.5 hours early 5 hour flight (w/o delays) .5 hours baggage claim 1 hour get rental car and drive up Cottonwood canyon It's closer to 10 hours with no Caribou, no Poutaine, no cheap cabins at the trailhead.
