I've just had this happen on two recent posts....
The UBB codes ‐ in this case quote and bold ‐ were not being recognized in the initial post. The quotation and bold didn't display properly until I edited the post and clicked "change post" (although I did not make any actual changes).

Has anyone else encountered this?

I had problems with the quote yesterday. The quotation didn't appear in the box, just as flat text, until I edited and change post.

Yeah, actually, that happened to me today. In my case I'd italicized something using square brackets - it posted without italics, I went to edit it (assuming my syntax was wrong) and it re-posted correctly.

Another odd bug. One of the horizontal dividers is missing.

I've been trying to enter in a somewhat wordy post. No matter how much I shorten it (even to one paragraph) it only posts the first 9 words. Whatsupwithat?

(I am copying and pasting text from either Word or Wordpad, but it doesn't appear to have special formatting)

Julie, look at that text of yours. I suspect the truncation took place right after that ninth word due to some punctuation mark or irregular character. Once you cut and paste the text onto the post box, you'll have to go over such characters, replacing them from your keyboard. This is a pain-in-the-ass workaround and worth doing only if you are really keen on posting that stuff.
Quanto, although my IE6 botches the shoutbox, it includes the horizontal bar you posted as missing. Microsoft giveth and Microsoft taketh away.

Send your description of what happened and a copy (and source url if it's from the web) to Evan (webmaster@gunks.com). This is the manifestation of the copy/paste bug.

I'd also bet that Phil's post in the GCC section [ http://gunks.com/ubbthreads7/ubbthreads...._the_GCC#UNREAD ] is the same thing - probably caused by a unicode apostrophe.

I just composed about a hundred "words" without punctuation via Word and they all were posted (and I immediately deleted it.) I'm stumped.

Oene, you were correct - it was apostrophes and quotation marks that caused the post to truncate. Interestingly, it looked fine on 'preview' .
