so being a certified semi redneck down here in shawangunk I wonder if anyone has any fishin' beta. I do have the Wallkill right in my back yard, basically, and a local told me the fishing in there is great. but there is agri runoff in that river and I want to eat the fish. the shawangunk kill is also a stone's throw from me and it sounds like that's the place to go, has anyone ever tried it there. any other places that are recommended in the area. I don't want to go all the way up to the Delaware or Catskills. Fly or spin cast. Do I need waders? What kind of bait / lures ?

You won't get many trout in the Wall or Gumkills, at least much past May, they get warm too fast.

Upper Rondout, either just below the dam or up near the source behind Peekamoose, the Esopus, or the Neversink for fly.

thanks, just looking mainly for panfish or anything I can eat, you know we'll all have to be living off the land pretty soon...

or mining landfills. There's no way there is enough fish & game to support us.

the rondout in rosendale is good too. there are many...but seeing this thread is so old i will assume you are either dead by now or have discovered the super market....:)
