All those pics are so cool! I especially like the market stall and the fruit boat in the earlier set. Hmmmm...which of the three different kinds of bananas and the four or five kinds of other unfamiliar fruit should I try today...?

That fruit boat looks filled with rambutan...or is it something else?

Yes and it looks like ripe rambutan -- something you seldom see on this side even in New York's Chinatown.

My ignorance is showing. I'd never previously eaten, seen or even heard of rambutan, and just had to wiki it for information. Doesn't seem to show up in the markets here in Tokyo, which mostly have pretty familiar offerings.

Guess I'll have to travel to try it.

I first saw and ate ripe rambutan in Malaysia. The stuff selling in New York's Chinatown doesn't seem as appetizing. Bill, you aren't missing much anyway.
