Well, I thought I'd give this a whirl, Guess the ice route! Keep in mind anything that Mike R posts will be easy to Guess. I already claim credit for guessing his correctly, Moore's and more Moore's. And to RangerRob, sorry about cluttering up the ice discussion with ski talk, maybe this picture can serve as my way of saying, "I'm sorry" I'll keep it free of snow from now on.

Its the Catskills, Looking at the sun angle I'd guess something in the hillsides of Katterskill Falls?
Not much to go on.

Evan, you're as good at reading a photo as you are a map.
That ridge in the background is getting full noon-ish sun (so given the suns aspect in winter it must be a hill side facing South East)
Also mts in the catskills have a generally flat top, with steep hillsides with a mix of confer trees on the steep parts

If this guess the ice route is going to work the pics need to give a bit more context. Just because it didn't work for you, you have to dumb it down for the rest of us? cfrac - Nice pics!

Yep, I do. You just happened to guess correctly! You have to admit, the picture above is a lot nicer to examine Yes, the picture above is nicer to look at but I think that photo is too easy. OK, here's another one...oh yeah, Thanks Smike!

How about Goldie Hawn? Yes, an obscure reference but does this climb have a real name?

Like I said, Goldie Hawn. After all, she was a football coach in the movie Wildcats and where does a coach stand? On the sidelines. Where is this climb? On the side(lines) of Wildcat. Pretty obvious.

That's one of the corners on left side of Moore's right? I mean Moore's, right? By the way the Wildcat guess was right for any who were not sure, the left variation on the last pitch. Flight 98 looks great, never did it. It looks like the right variation would be wild, thin to mixed back to hangers on the right!

Chapel Pond area is correct, but what climb? Sorry for not sticking to the catskills. If you want to trek up to flight 98, have fun. I'm not going back...unless it's for something else in the general vicinity.

Hey smike, isn't that pitch called bridal veil falls? Isn't that area called the hellitchen now? Not to be confused with the kitchasm of course. I'll try to get a few more shots up when I get home.

Bizzz and Bizzz.. Hint: in most years a Tree start is required, as was the case in this photo, as the bottom curtain is usually crap.
And the route is very foreshorten looking in this image.

No one has gotten Smikes photo, I like the 25 ft rule and how about no new photos until someone correctly guesses the last one. So Smike I don't know, is this something in the ADK backcountry?

Didn't you or brendan back off that last winter? Brendon did, then I was stupid enough to get on it, one of those climbs where going up with zero pro was safer then downclimbing after some point.

Since you didn't think that Viola falls (which are more than 25'BTW) were high enough, how about this one (center): Mr. Doolittle's Hotel in Deep Notch?

Didn't you or brendan back off that last winter? Brendon did, then I was stupid enough to get on it, one of those climbs where going up with zero pro was safer then downclimbing after some point. Tillman's Mike? I thought that way once:

Knowing Smike's penchant for buggery and climbs to the right of PowerPlay, I'm going to go with Seldom Scene (Seen?)

Hey, it does look a lot like seldom scene! I was thinking of one of those climbs right off the pond to the left of PP. To use your word Sam, it's a delightful little climb.

Buttermilk? When did you climb it? If I'm right, I've seen climbers groveling up that crack in years past.

It's not Buttermilk, but I think I know the route you mean...the pitch just left of the last pitch on Buttermilk looks very similar but has a smaller roof and a steeper intro. The route in question was climbed last year and isn't too far from Buttermilk.

Is that at Moores Bridge around the corner from the steeper climbs on the right side(furthest away from the NEI 3 gully on the left)?

That narrows it down. In the meantime, here's an easy one:

Is that at Moores Bridge around the corner from the steeper climbs on the right side(furthest away from the NEI 3 gully on the left)? Not Moores. Though last March a similarly steep pillar showed up briefly around that west side. It was much thinner than this one though and we only TR'ed it. I wish I took a photo of it - it was just a couple inches thick at its base. Honestly, I don't know why you guys think every photo I post is something at Moores Bridge. Really, I don't understand. PS this one isn't in the guidebook, so we're looking for a location rather than a route name. And I don't know if it forms like this regularly. So maybe "you had to be there" (last year).

AOC, you said an easy one? I don't know Adarondike? or something in Smuggs?
Mike R's post, it kind of look like Chapel Pond Canyon. On the way down to Positive Reinforcement???

I don't think Mike's is in the canyon. I think it's that thing down around to the right of Crystal Ice Tower, can't remember the name? It's just above the pond maybe 100 yd left of Lions. And Al's is indeed in Avy. Pass.

Now that you stated it Smike I see it. It seems so obvious now!
So Mike R, is your route in the guidebook, does it have a name? and I will check out Viola, sounds good!

I was stumped too. I didn't recognize myself in the photo. Short but strenuous.

Underwood Canyon? I don't know many of the names, but something like three stooges or one of the recommended routes on the East side?

That baby was making some interesting noises and had water pouring down it when I was thinking about doing it last year. Sweet looking line but too much sun that day. Nice one!
