Need to replace my Petzl Calidris and looking for thoughts on harnesses. Need 4 gear loops..

The new BD Chaos is awesome. It is light and has that kinetic core so it is more or less flat and thin. This is better than the Arc'teryx flat harness that came out a while back and was what I replaced it with. I blew through the Arc'teryx in less than a year (orange wear indicators were showing) but the BD has served me well.

I've come to really enjoy the breathable harness materials Petzl uses. Always less sweaty on the back and legs which translates to less chill factor on a long route in the mountains and especially ice climbing.

I really like my Misty Mountain Cadillac. The six gear loops are really nice if you prefer to rack on your harness, and it's very comfortable.

Yeah, Witz, there is always that, but the OP was looking for gear loops :-)
As an aside, I had forgotten my harness in the car and discovered this after hiking up a ways to climb at a Rumney cliff. I figured I would just TR a line before running back to the car and tied a bowline on a coil around my waste. I was denied a belay from one of the group for being so unsafe! Thankfully, old hand Tim Kemple Sr. jumped in and gave me a ride. I quess the current crop of folk just haven't ever thought about dropping onto anything other than a nice, cushy harness.

It would probably not (knot?) have resulted in raised eyebrows if you had tied it around your waist. But where ever you put it...

The BD Chaos is a good harness. Myself, I'm on the flipside of pazreal. I like the Arteryx harness a lot. I use it when I am doing hard trad routes since its soooo light and comfortable, either short or long. Its incredibly comfortable for long hanging belays. I did a 2.5hr hanging belay as a friend worked out the moves on a route 3 pitches up.

I really liked the fit and comfort of the Arc'Teryx but was put off by the quick wear. The major factor that had me liking the Arc'Teryx was the fact that it comes in both male and female versions. The female version allows for the people like me (a guy with a tiny waste and big legs) to have a proper fit. I had to do some custom modding of my BD for that same fit.
