Sounds like Trango may already be talking. My biggest concern is whether the Alien can be mass produced by anyone while maintaining the parts of it we all loved. Prolly doesn't matter if it is mass produced as long as it is consistently tested and CE certified.

It sure would be sweet if someone like Mal at Trango took it over. But I wouldn't blame him if he steered clear due to the liabilities.

Mal Daly of Trango posted over on Supertopo:

"I love my Aliens too, especially since I was able to proof test them to 1,200lbf each. Unfortunately, for a million reasons, this deal is probably not doable for us. But if there is anyone out there who is looking for a labor of love....

Climb safe,
Mal"

Seems a Trango deal is not to be.

A lawyer told me years ago, "When you buy a company, you buy THE ASSETS ONLY. Liabilities stay with the previous owner." How this is accomplished, of course, is lawyer-stuff. In the case of Aliens, I would imagine the buyer gets the designs, tooling, inventory.

True on paper. But the buyer also gets to own the public perception of quality.
