Went out on Undercliff early this morning and broke trail to Rhodo Bridge, reversed my path and went back out in my own tracks. Snow was great at 7:00 am but was turning very slushy in less than an hour.

FYI: Mountain House ski conditions recording reports that hare not grooming yret and that their trails are still closed.

Hope it doesn't melt too much if it changes over to r@!n tonight. I'll be off to the mountains regardless.

Lapland Lake reports 15k groomed and more to come for their opening this weekend. Another dump like this one, and we won't be far behind. RC

When it comes to cross country skiing, one can almost literally do that now.

Wow! I don't think I have ever seen such extensive snow cover, especially this early in the winter.

But, it's summer in Antarctica! RC

That didn't stop the 2009 IceAxe.TV ski expedition. Ok, it was spring when they were there...

Though Greenland looked good under that total coverage in the sat photo, it's summer in snowy Antarctica and therefore, maybe more enticing than Greenland. Probably, more of a "six or half a dozen" situation. RC

Well, in the early Antarctic summer, the days are extremely long, whereas in Greenland nowadays there's hardly any sunshine. But at least it's closer.

Well then, the only thing left to discuss is airfare? RC
