Yup, their domain expired just around the time of Dave's passing. I thought they had renewed it as it was back up the other day, but looking just now it appears to be down again. Understandable that the website might not be high on Nadia's priority list at the moment though...

Here's a link- www.aliencamsbycch.com

Just FYI, it looks like CCH's site is back up again.

What is new about this discussion? Were still talking about 2 cams. Did this guy ever break the other cams as he claimed he would?

Seems like everyone has kinda moved on from this. Either you buy and trust Aliens or you don't and use Mastercams or something similar for your small gear. I think I'm very glad to hear no more breakage stories.

The real question is whether you trust the Aliens you already own. At the moment it is pretty hard to find new Aliens to buy. In NYC they are essentially sold out and Rock & Snow doesn't have them any more on the web site. I saw over on Mtn Project that CCH has officially been put up for sale. If a reputable company would purchase CCH and start putting out Aliens again-- assuming they still had the same feel to them-- I would gladly purchase the whole set, replacing even the ones I have, for the peace of mind. They are such great cams, it is hard to resist the urge to use the ones I have!

Agreed, Seth, although I'm not sure what company would be able to take over as a good fit to the current product line. Petzl would make sense on many levels and maybe Trango. Since the patent has run out the buy-out would probably be fairly small and more just purchasing the name rights to the device. It would be a great opportunity to the right small group if they were willing to test regularly, such as BD, and establish some trust. The actual purchase money could be paid over time out of the profits such that the real start up cost would be for regular testing and initial start up. A bargain for someone who knew what they were doing.

That is one hell of an opportunity.
