I was wondering what is everybody's favorite micro set for the Gunks? TIA!

NOT the BD Micro Stoppers. The metal is too hard.

I hedge and take a couple each of offset brassies, some BDs and an old RP or two, because they all work if they are set in the perfect fit and they all fit different shapes. They are light so I don't mind taking like 6 or 7 of them along.
I find the small peenuts pretty useless in that I can usually get another piece in the same place easier and better fitting.
Funny enough, I also find that the smallest two C3s fit a lot of places where I used to use micros and seem a little more stable/forgiving if the crack isn't perfect.

I've started carrying the mid-size HB brass offsets that DMM is now producing. They're versatile and easy to place. I add a couple of the smaller RPs I have and that pretty much covers it.

I'm with Chip - just carry a whole bunch of them.

^^^way to feed my gear gluttony, guys! I just ordered me a set of HBs from R&S - the set is already discounted and with Memorial day sale, I got a pretty good deal methink. still not cheap, but better than dealing with my head issues on marginal placements of bigger pieces or run-outs.

I've seen couple of RPs here and there on eBay. Is there any word of advice on which generation I should look out for or avoid? I know I can still buy them from Ca or Aussie, but it would be like $20 per nut! Thanks again for all your help.

its micro gear which means specialized which means different tools for different problems....the bd swedges are really nice for certain placements...so are the tiniest stoppers and whatever the hell wc or dmm call their versions

if you just bought a set of dmm (i.e. hb) offset brassies then why would you buy rps at 20 bucks a pop? how much brass do you need?

unless your leading 11s and 12s all day i cant imagine you'll need more than a single set of brass....and on 10s...only rarely...

and realize that the smallest of all of these pieces have ratings that are pretty low.....i.e. dont be surprised if you break a few if you start taking lots of hard whippers onto low rated wires....or if you tweak them out totally the first time you fall/hangdog on them....

Ok, so I pulled out my brass. The ones I carry are; #5&6 HB offsets, #3&4 BD, and #3&4 RPs. I often don't carry them on G rated stuff unless I know it is near my limit. I've tried other stuff and think that this gives me the best coverage in these hopeful placements. Smaller sizes than these really aren't worth placing for a lead, in my opinion.

Speaking of small gear anybody else got a set of Crack-N-Ups still? Dang things caught on every possible thing imaginable but darned if I could get them to stay in a crack when I needed them. Yeah, thread drift.

I know someone with an unused set of Crack-n-Ups #2-6. They hang on the wall in a pretty framed box.
