Cur, you've got to give the kids a chance. How else will they exercise their young minds?

Seth, this really had/has me stumped. I looked at it for quite some time yesterday and had no idea, though the initial roof looks like Jean, but the roof above looks too close. Now I am thinking it is Jean just taken with a zoom so that the roof that is directly above the anchor is deceivingly close.

That was a long winded answer, but my guess is Jean, is that right?

Not Jean. That is an interesting guess! I can see why you'd say it, but the shallow corner beneath the roof on Jean faces the other way. And the roof above me in the photo is tiered but is not foreshortened-- it's all one roof.

Hint: this pitch is rated 5.8 by Dick but 5.10 by Swain. I looked up Swain's rating afterwards. I think Dick is closer to the right rating. I thought it was very pumpy, perhaps 5.8+, or maybe a little easier: 5.9-.

Nope. Are there any 5.8 pitches on The Spring?

Hint #2: The Spring is much closer than Jean...

Hint #3: This is a no-star route.

Hint #4: I am climbing pitch 2.
