Two peregrine young were fledged from the Trapps Cliff and another 3 from Millbrook Cliff. The peregrine closure is therefore lifted. Thank you for your cooperation!

Now the throngs can get back to climbing Minty and Beginners Delight. Boy won't they be relieved that they don't have to go exploring anymore.

Minty wanders so much it is actually kind of an exploration. I think my partner and I ended up on three different routes the time we tried to climb Minty. We kept going up the wrong corners.

The one I'm dying to get on is Snooky's, which I climbed once a few years ago (no memory of it). Every time I walk up to it it's occupied, weekend, week day, whenever.

Dana, did you ever find out the fate of the bird we saw on the carriage road? (not sure I want to know ... poor thing!)

does this also mean high horses are once again allowed on the carriage road?

I haven't...

I've been at the cliff during the week but haven't seen a ranger...I want to know too. I hope he/she made it...but it didn't look good.

Favorite time I climbed Minty-bright sunny day in January; carriage road was an ice rink and we used trekking poles for the approach. Touching winter warm rock, cruising up the route and remembering vividly, being a new leader, stepping out onto the exposed face of P2, futzing with a pink tri cam while a wasp stung me in the forehead. It just doesn't get better than that.

Two of the chicks fledged a little to early. They were then found on the carriage road. One survived, the other appeared predated upon. The following Sunday, Hank informed us that the survivor was sent to a wildlife center for observation and care. I've no news on how that turned out. Great to hear that the other two have taken flight.

"predated upon" = preyed upon, perhaps?

Is that like when your kid wants to start dating in the 1st grade, and you find out the other party is the teacher?

Took a quick run up Madame G's yesterday. I like to think it was the first of the season, but I highly doubt it.

P2 is covered in bird poo... it's everywhere. But it's still my favorite 6 in the Gunks. Absolutely beautiful climbing smile

In that case I imagine by next week we'll see a few "I got bird poo on my rope...Retire it?" posts on those OTHER climbing websites.

Yeah! Snooky's Return here I come! Also, I find peregrine to be stringy in soup.
