There is an official map series for hiking in the Gunks.
Picked it up at Franklin Maps in Valley Forge PA.
To busy climbing to use it lately.
But always got lost in the past. Now I know why. The trails are everywhere around the Preserve and Mohonk.

Charlie, Are the maps you are referring to the NY/NJ Trail Conference ones? There used to be, maybe still are,
maps that the preserve used to provide, broken into two sections, one focused on the northern end, the other
the southern end.

The NY/NJ Trail Conference maps are worth the investment, they seem to be everywhere from Campmor to
Rock and Snow, and everywhere in between. Check out their website for more info... http://www.nynjtc.org
Personally I have been using their maps for years, and have found them to be accurate, up to date, and
that they hold up to a lot of abuse.
