I had to leave a cam up under the roof on Roddey last Friday. Anyone who finds it is welcome to keep it....serves me right. Thirty years ago, I thought getting by the roof was difficult...on Friday my pro fell out when I pulled up to the roof and I found it advisable to slap in a piece and downclimb posthaste. Roddey...5.2?
I was climbing with Steven and Mike that morning on Slightly Roddey. I don't recall anyone mentioning anything about finding a cam. Mike went up Roddey to pull down our TR, so if anyone would have it, it would be him.

Yep, Mike usually leads Slightly Roddey, but wasn't it feeling it, so he led Roddey. There was no cam on Saturday morning, we would have seen it. And yeah, the moves aren't hard, but 5.2 my ass.
Huh. I was watching a guide (Carolyn?) with her clients on Belly Roll + Roddey the other day. It looked pleasant and easy, but the guy client had some trouble with it. Looked like even Mike stepped up & down a time or so.
I thought I'd warm up on it someday, since I've never climbed it, but - maybe not! Having to say "yikes, 5.2 my ass" on the first route of the day never starts things off well

No matter how many times I've been on it, I have never figured out a graceful way to do Belly Roll. It is a grunt and feels insecure but somehow goes anyway.

Chip, I have seen people avoid the roll by staying outside and to the left of the squeeze, but I am always happy to be wedged in there securely. A short and lean friend of mine did a full belly roll in there - as in rolled from belly onto back and onto belly again. Funny to watch.
