I have climbed that route a bunch, recognised that spot as familiar, and still had no clue.

Mike Swicky, Morry Jaffie and Mike Mangeri and Troop 33. "Take your beans and go home". Hanging Dogging was frowned upon in the 70's. This was my first attempt at anything over 5.5 or there abouts.

Jim Munson, Mark Robinson, Mike Freedmon, Barber [or Mike Freedmon's climbing partner not sure], John Brag, Bill Ravitch, Dug Strickhome. Not sure about the spelling here.

I was the only one that that could get up it.

Pictures taken later of Jim Munson

If the first two are too easy here is another to slow you down.

Ah yes -- Low Exposure.

(Are you sure you've got the cast of characters correct in these photos?)

I was there, I should know. I do not think the guy with the cap is Henry Barber though, I did not see him a lot. I see Mike Freedman there. He always used to climb with that married guy that came up who would wear a white cap, you can see him in the second picture. And at the time, there were no other black guys up there, ever. And if there were, they did not climb. The guy I am saying is Mike appears to have glasses.[Mike always had glasses] I know that Mark and John where there, they made some comment like, it wasn't worth it, that it was too brutal, especially without tape. They had no interest in trying it, just watching. I know that's Bill Ravitch there with his hands behind his back.

The other photo of the not yet named climb has Mike Sawicky in it, and I remember Morry Jaffy stuttering away making some ethical comments along with the other guys. Morry has no recollection of this incident, so if Morry was not there, he is not in the picture, I think the guy with the white pants is almost certainly Bill Ravitch there making the ethical comments as well. Bill stuttered too, but only to perfect an insult. That would make more sense. Yet I think they were both there, I always remember Morry Jaffy as being there. I was very embarrassed, I did not find the situation very comfortable, the bean comment was only a small part of the conversation, it went on and on. I was glad that I got to try it, but felt that I had really made a fool out of myself by the time I was done.

We did not own a nut tool yet nor knew what one was, the guy closer to me is handing me a home made one. I ended up making one out of 1/8 X 3/8 steel and roll bending the end myself too. That guy, his name was Mike Robins as I remember it, a very nice guy to help me out there. He did not seem to share the same opinion as the rest of the climbers. I knew the other guys were not going to help me get my equipment out. Mike gained a little more weight and dropped out of climbing, I did not see him that much after a while.

I could really kick myself in the ass for not taking more pictures! Oh but alas, if I could only do it all over again, I would have done so many things differently.
