My partner of 9 years, Dylana Accolla passed away at home on a dry and sunny Sunday afternoon, September 26, 2010. She was 47. Dylana was an Acupuncturist and herbalist, and has treated hundreds of clients in the Hudson Valley. Her specialty was fertility, supporting cancer treatments, and she was in the early stages of setting up a dedicated Lyme Disease Clinic in Kingston. She was a regular visitor to the Preserve as a hiker, runner, biker and blueberry picker.

In mid-July, Dylana was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. She died 10 weeks later, chemotherapy having proved unsuccessful.

Dylana leaves behind a healthier community of friends and patients, and family who will miss her ever dearly.

Oh man, I am so, so sorry to hear that. I only met her briefly, sitting outside that Japanese restaurant with you several years ago, but I remember her kind spirit. I wish we could lift some of the pain you feel right now, but only the passage of time and the support of those close to you can do that. As was said above, keep her love in your heart always, for she will then never be apart from you.

Evan, so so sorry to hear of her passing. I lost my sister to cancer this year - it was already stage 4 at the sign of her first symptom. Three of my friends were diagnosed with cancer this year, one is fighting for survival. I hope that everyone will support causes that lead to a cure for this horrible disease. This is such sad news. I just saw this tonight. I'm so sorry for your loss. We climbed together about 7 years ago, and in that brief time I quickly noticed you to be a gentle soul. I remember there was a freshly killed copperhead on the carriage road that I looked at with a little disdain. Only to then see you go over to it and lay your hands on it, to examine it. You touched it carefully, gently, as if showing empathy to this now helpless creature that most of us passing by saw no value in. I was ashamed of my earlier reaction after watching you.

Your loved one must have felt deeply comforted and sustained by the compassion that surely flowed like a torrent from you during her time of distress, bringing her a measure of peace.

I hope you are finding the same kind of compassion and support.

I just discovered Dylana's passing. I knew Dylana's love from when she lived in San Francisco. She is beauty, passion and love of the purest light that will always be in my heart. I send you my love dearest Dylana. -Brian
