The Undercliff/Overcliff is broken out, no machine grooming, just good hard work on the part of many. Drifting on the Overcliff is not too bad, snow depth ranges from about 6 to 10 inchs. With a few wind scoured sections that cause no problem.

Anyone been to Spring Farm, Bonticou, or MMH areas?

Minnewaska should be open, but I do not know if it is groomed yet? Call in advance to confirm skiing however.

A link to snow totals in the Catskills/Gunks region.

Franky,
I would suspect that the trail up from Spruceton Rd is in very good condition. Be cautious down below, there is usually some wind scouring. But that trail doesn't take much to come into shape. Above the Hunter/Rusk col, the trail switches back and forth to the summit. It's never any narrower than a jeep all the way up. Fine ride back. Enjoy and post up when you get home. RC

As of yesterday Mohonk was mostly groomed and tracked I'd say about 80 per cent and including Overcliff. there are small sections of gravelly stuff, but not enough to be bothersome. it was truly wonderful conditions for classical. I observed that for fresh snow when temps are above 30 the Swix silver red V90 kick wax works incredibly well. get some at Rock and Snow. we skied Minnewaska the day before and that was rolled and tracked out upper Awosting; too many bare spots for Castle Point.
a good tip is that Overcliff does not get groomed until relatively late since it is the Mountain House ski shop folks that do the grooming and they start at the Mountain House and work their way outward toward the perimeters of the system. so on the day after a big storm, Overcliff will not always get groomed, you have to wait until the 2nd day.
after the hard freeze last night it will be firm for skating and we'll have a really good base. off to a great start for the year, folks!

I assume that the snow is pretty bullet proof but wondered if grooming might have resulted in decent conditions for this coming Saturday? Thinking Overcliff but am open to anywhere along the ridge. Thanks in advance for any reports.

Chip, local grooming had been OK, but I've not been out for a few days. Scattered snow showers are forecasted here for this coming Sat and Sun.

Thanks Rick. I might head somewhere further north or west, depending on what I can learn.
