Julie posted this over on mountainproject.com. Prehaps it should be put on the front page?
ATTENTION CLIMBERS!
Due to nesting peregrine falcons, the section of the Trapps cliff between the routes Beginner's Delight (5.3) and Triangle (5.9) is temporarily closed to rock climbing.
This is the Mac Wall, and Guide's wall (Beginner's, Minty, Mme G's), V3, and just before Middle Earth.
- Do not use ascent trails or rappel routes that access this area. - Do not use the section of the cliff base climber's trail between these routes. - Please refrain from excessive noise making while in the vicinity of this closure.
Thanks to Jannette from the GCC for sending this out.
The closure this year is really big, I'm a little bummed. I'm sure it's justified and all that. I'm just sayin'.

Actually it isn't quite as big as I thought, I was momentarily misled by the inclusion of the Mac Wall in the description, when really the Mac Wall as it's usually understood isn't part of the closure.

This includes such routes as Snooky's Return, Minty, beginners Delight, Madame G's, The Guides Wall, Raunchy, V-3, Cakewalk, Alley Oop, and Triangle.
Was up on Absurdland today and the peregrines are enforcing their turf quite agressively. Climbers beware.

Here's to a good thaw on Moss Cliff and Poke-O before the raptors nest up north.
Had a nice time on Te Dum and Grand Central today, the Nears felt like there was a closure - no one around.

Just as an FYI, I spoke to one of the rangers yesterday (GORGEOUS day for climbing, by the way) and he said that they're hoping to reduce the closure area soon. The raptors are still going through their site selection process. Once they pick a site and begin nesting, they *should* be able to open up a nice portion of those routes.

Good to hear, I assumed they were just being lazy and didn't know exactly where the Peregrines were nesting (from lack of investigation) and just closed a bunch to be on the 'safe' side. At least this is just a precautionary closure and many of the routes will be opened sooner than later. There's a Raven's nest at the top of Three Pines (pitch 2). It doesn't seem to care much that we're there, which makes sense since it picked a site at the top of a popular route. Lots of raven vs peregrine action this past weekend.
