The GCC just got word from the Mohonk Preserve:
"Peregrine falcon young successfully fledged from the Trapps Cliff nesting site, due in part to all the climbers who observed the now lifted closure. Thank you for your cooperation."

Seems very early for them to fledge. Any idea how many made it?

Not necessarily early. The Peregrine on the Rachel Carlson building in PA fledged already too. he was an only child so that may help? not having to share food with siblings.

I think two chicks is right. The family is still in the area---the chicks are chasing the parents around screeching for food.

Does anyone know how the one from last year(who was found injured on the ground) fared?

Also - I was told the Raven's nest on the GT Ledge by 3 Pines is now empty, and seems like something ravaged the nest(let's HOPE other birds, and not some person, annoyed at the noisiness of those birds!). But Friday I was in LC and heard them. Look! Up in the air - It's a bird, it's 2 birds, no 3. It's the Ravens!

Maybe not the same ones, but it was 3 big ones, scrapping it up as the did a fly by. I hope it was them.

Ravens in the 3 Pines area were still quite rowdy on Saturday morning.
