I just thought I'd start this thread so we can share our favorite places to eat around town. In addition, there are a few new places that have opened in the last few months:

Rock & Rye Tavern - just opened - didn't try it yet

A Tavola - outstanding Italian - modern and eclectic

Gunk Haus - excellent modern German fare and beer.

Anatolia - just returned after a few years - authentic Turkish fare

As a foodie at heart, in addition to the places stated above, my favs restaurants are...

The Village TeaRoom Restaurant & Bake Shop - for the dingle pies, salads, soups, chicken, turkey pot pie, and, of course, their outstanding desserts.

Harvest Cafe great views of the Ridge from their outdoors patio and wonderful food

Karma Road - they have the best post-climbing (running, hiking, biking...) smoothies

Mim what is the italian place in newburgh that Rich raves about?

not necessarily new paltz but i did finally find some really good authentic mexican food in kingston. La roma is a pizza/ mexican restaurant across from the ymca on broadway. We were hesitant at first due to the pizza aspect though the banner which read tortas, huarachas,tamales etc made me give it a try.
The menu is thorough and inexpensive, i had two tacos, carne enchilada total $ 4:00.
The taco list reads as followes: bisteak, suadero, cesina, carne enchilada, choriso, carnitas, pollo, alambres, lengua de res, tripa de res, cabeza de puerco.

My favorite place to eat in the Gunks is Oscar on the other side of the ridge. The place is worth an extra few miles trek over 44/55.

Il Cena'colo - The best Tuscan cuisine outside of Italy. Forty (40) specials nightly. Truly for a special occasion, especially if you get carried away...

+1 on Il Cena'colo.

Try Pure City on Main St. (RT 52) in Pine Bush. 25 minutes south of the Trapps.
Vegan chinese menu. I'm no vegan but I find the fare exceptional.

For pizza Rinos in the plaza across from Stop and Shop is good. If you're around on Tuesday night the New Paltz Indian Restaurant has an all you can eat buffet for 13 bucks. On Thursdays the all you can eat buffet is at the Mediterranean place right next to Yanni's Excellent falafel. Of course a lamb gyro platter at Yanni's always leaves one satisfied. I'll also have to give Oscar a thumbs up. The order 2 of the $5 sides and a Hurrican Kitty and you've got yourself a meal. If you want wings try Murphy's in New Paltz, just up the road from Starbucks. Go there before 8pm or so. It turns into a college bump and grind fest after that.
