I heard from a local that this a good place to eat. I'll try to confirm that "personally".

Your web site is broken in a number of ways:
- doesn't work the same in all browsers
- portions are truncated unless opened full screen on at least a 1680x1050 screen
- layout is mostly to fully broken in smaller windows
- after clicking on one of the menu sections, there is no way to get back to the full list (same in IE and Firefox)

Hope your food is better than your website coding.

Not sure how that 'local' found out how good the food is- the place has not opened yet. Also, the spelling should be "Gunks Smokehouse." The signs all over the building say "Gunk's Smokehouse," with an apostrophe. Is there really someone named Gunk involved?

Why did you insert quotation marks around 'Gunks Smokehouse? Why did you insert an apostrophe before and after the word local? Where is the apostrophe mark in front of 'Gunks? And the question should be: "Also, the spelling should be 'Gunks." He did spell Smokehouse correctly. Are there really signs all over the building? And why add this bit of trite and inaccurate emphasis?

And why you did even post this?

So, since you have Gunks in your name you're going to give all of us with our Gunks passes a 10% discount, right?

Sounds good to me. I liked the old BBQ place that was near Rock and Snow. We were sad to see that one go.

We are thinking about it... which pass are you talking about. Currently we are considering the Mohonk pass, but not sure what we are going to do yet.

I checked the rules of this discussion board and found that posts by commercial interests advertising themselves are not prohibited. Does the webmaster want this sort of thing to go on?

I think this kind of one-off opening mention is ok for the moment. A couple of reasons:

--It's in a forum where the topic will be pruned after a number of days
--We're not currently offering them another option for advertising
--It's a simple, one-time announcement with little clutter of fanfare

In other words, it's not egregious and it didn't seem to me to warrant removal.

If you have questions about the appropriateness of any post there is a "Notify" button on every single one.

The Gunks pass. If you only did it, for 3 to 6 months, at least it would get more people in the door and if you look busy...

I've seen a lot of restaurants come and go in NP. Can't wait to try yours out. The town needs a good BBQ place.

The "Gunks Pass?" They already said Mohonk(Preserve) - do you mean something different.

Maybe they could something like "First Drink Free with MP Membership" once a week. Tip to restaurant: Don't make that with the day pass or you will have people happily gathering day pass wristbands people discard and drinking up! hahahah

How is it that a restaurant that isn't even open yet is getting talked about so much?

What New Paltz really needs is a good Mexican restaurant.

It used to be called "anticipation". Now it's "promotion". Let's hope it lives up to the tease.

acdnyc:"I've seen a lot of restaurants come and go in NP."

Being older than acdnyc (I think) I've seen a lot more come and go. It seems that the half-life of such restaurants is but a few years. There must be a good reason why the two diners are the most enduring restaurants in town. Lotsa luck to the Smoke House.

No doubt Oeno. Bowl of chili and a buttered hard rool at the College diner is pretty hearty.

Well we are planning to stick around for a while and with the help of all of you I think we can accomplish this.

Has anyone seen our flyers around town yet?
