Signed up too! Last fall's run was my very first running race ever. I had injured my Achille's tendon in July and rested it from running for two months. I did a few warm-up runs a couple of weeks prior to the race and then did it.
Given I ran it pretty much off the couch, I was happy with my overall race, but was sore as if I was run over by a truck for about three days... so I am hoping that I can avoid this unfortunate side effect this year if I train well until then.
I had very modest goals:
1) Show up
2) Not re-injure my tendon
3) Follow my own momentum
5) Run, not walk
I have the same goals this year, except I am hoping to improve my time a bit (1h40). I love hills...
