Dynamic or Static - doesn't matter. But I am looking to use it to secure the spare tire to the roof of my van. The tire holder on the back is rusted and cannot hold the tire, so until I get a replacement - up top it is.

I think 20 to 30 feet is good. It's up there now, being held by bungy and accessory cord, but something more substantial would feel a LOT more secure...

If you have an old length of rope you can get to me(local to New Paltz area) I will come pick it up or meet you somewhere. Heading off to the southwest probably on Tuesday - so....as soon as the snow clears, I'll be by!

Why do you ask for this kind of stuff for your trips right at the last possible moment? You knew about the tire holder, what, 2 months ago? Three? More? Same with trying to sell the heater.

I know someone who was there 3 weeks or so ago and would have been happy to give you an old rope or three....had he known. Just sayin' you could make some aspects of your life easier if you give people more notice.
Sorta like trying to find a ride partner for a cross country trip a mere month before you intend to depart.

Maybe you should ask every car that pulls into Coxing as you stand there talking to the preserve employee.
Or after you have grubbed a ride to the poughkeepsie train station you could do a quick stop off at Lowes for some bungee cords or rope, i doubt they will just give it to you though.

Crimpy - I paid a person to give me rides to/from Poughkeepsie train station to Camp Slime. Found her via placing an ad in Craigslist, and for 3 years we had that arrangement.

In that time, she and I became good friends. I taught her to climb.

As for talking to preserve employees - what is wrong with that? I am always very careful to halt conversation when anyone comes up, so they are not sitting there waiting. I have also helped out a little when things get backed up, by answering questions for people as a volunteer, when I am hanging around.
