I Had a client get bite by a copperhead snake today while climbing on Boston. The snake was up the climb about 25ft before I removed it from the crack in order to get better determination if it was a copperhead. When I left it was sitting at the base of the climb.

There was one sitting on the side of the Trapps carriage road Tuesday at dusk. I saw it just in time to avoid stepping on it.

This is the time of year when they are more visible and it seems to me that they recognise the need for more food and are more active. They are almost always along the carriage road and crawl out onto the surface of it at night to stay warm as long as possible. Use a light when walking out in the dark!

About a month ago I saw the first one I have ever seen at the Gunks. We were at the far end of the Trapps of trail looking ofr a climb. If it hadn't moved in the leaves I might have stepped on it.

And yes - how is the client?

I saw the note on the message board about this. The note mentioned the person was airlifted out. Does anyone know if that is true?

What should you do for a snake bite?
