In Bhutan, archery is their national sport & pastime. In Gardiner, they come and practice every week!

Their targets are set over 150 yards (140 m) apart.
The target is the size of a plate.
They don't use any visual aid.

I wonder. Gardiner is so far from Bhutan. How and why the twain do meet?

I saw this going on a few years ago. Their field is right along the rail trail (south of Rt 44).

I think it sounds like a good Trilogy: "Archers of Bhutan".

Followed by "Bending Bows"

And the third installment, "Of Strength and String"

these guys are right in our hood and I've often seen them and marveled at their skills and wild-man-ness. In fact they sometimes are taunting each other and seem to be trying to shoot each other, not the targets!

theirs is apparently some kind of rebellious ethnic group which refused to follow strictures imposed by the royal government and were expelled from their land, if what I read is true. they have a connection to someone who owns the land in Gardiner.

There has got to be more to this. My curiosity is provoked.
